Jackson house, clacton
Jackson House was a 1960s 'glass and concrete' building typical of its era. Its former office use had ceased and the building lay vacant. Being five storeys high, it was one of the tallest buildings in Clacton; publicly visible from all sides and at significant distances, its run down and unattractive appearance consequently affected the whole town.
This regeneration scheme includes mixed uses comprising Travelodge Hotel, apartments and ground floor restaurants and retail units.
The building was a finalist in the Tendring Council Design awards and the Council confirmed that the re-modelling 'has brightened up this whole part of town... turning out to be a catalyst in bringing forth other redevelopment projects nearby".
