The conversion of a Scheduled Ancient Monument set of buildings which consist of the Point Barracks, Flanking Battery and Hot Walls into a series of arts and crafts studios, where residents and visitors can watch the artists at work.

RIBA award wining conversion and restoration and of one of the Palmerston Forts (Scheduled Monument) situated at the mouth of Portsmouth Harbour in the Solent forming an exclusive retreat/boutique hotel.

PLC Architects acted for the project development from inception to client handover; ensuring the project was compliant, operational and within budget; carrying out continuous dialogue with English Heritage, Local Planning Authority and Harbour Master for necessary consents for this iconic project.
 

homewell, havant

Conversion of the Old Parchment Works into residential accommodation in the centre of Havant. Close attention to detail saw the rention of the historic architectural detailing. The project subsequently won a Civic Trust award and was a short-listed finalist for the Solent Design Awards.

sandown battery gardens, Isle of wight

Proposal prepared to create a ‘Heritage Museum’ in the underground rooms with insertion of a lightwell and new connections to the existing facilities to re-connect the rooms for a complete experience. Objectives were bringing the battery back to its former condition, create open-air theatre, exhibition space for events to take place and provide a restaurant and cafeteria with associated accessible toilets for this prime coastal location.
