sandown battery gardens, Isle of wight

Lottery bid for the conversion of a disused historical Napoleonic Land Fort including the municipal park owned by Isle of Wright Council. In the past, part of the site used as cafeteria and associated toilets and underground rooms were sealed due to their dilapidated state.

Proposal prepared to create a ‘Heritage Museum’ in the underground rooms with insertion of a lightwell and new connections to the existing facilities to re-connect the rooms for a complete experience. Objectives were bringing the battery back to its former condition, create open-air theatre, exhibition space for events to take place and provide a restaurant and cafeteria with associated accessible toilets for this prime coastal location.
